    Diesel injectors

Anyone know good recon injectors or had any issues with them?

I don't think there is much trouble with reconditioned injectors themselves, rather the coding of them after.
Each injector has a calibration code and these codes need updating within the ECU.
So you'll need someone with the correct equipment to do this, otherwise it can run like a bag of spanners.

Someone {(forgive me I can't remember who) descrided them like guitar strings.
Fit a new one and it will make a noise (run), but you need to tune it to get the correct note (run properly).

There are plenty of good diesel specialists that will supply renditioned injectors.
I've never used any of these, but I've heard their reputation is good.

A word of note, there are two different injectors fitted over the production run.
    501Z and 504Z.

Out of curiosity, why do you need injectors?

I'm pleased to see that the price of them has started to slip. New injectors can now be had for as little as 75 but more generally at about 150.

By the time you add on the cost of the special tools required and the guarantee and ultra-clean working requirements, it's probably a job best left to the specialists.

Mine have gone off to mondeospares.co.uk. After a day of ringing around and getting quotes and info, these guys seem both knowledgeable and inexpensive, together with a good turn around. Some have quoted 180 for refurbed injectors, even though my local jaguar dealer quotes 168 for new ones! Have found them for as little as 100 but am wary. Average price is about 120-140 plus VAT. Mondeo spares in stoke on Trent quote 99 to recondition and they are Delphi credited. They also offer a clean and inspect for 21 each. (all there prices include VAT too) so sent mine off today. I'll get them tested and if all four need a rebuild it's only 480, but if one or two are tested ok I save a few quid. I've had hot start issues, lumpy running, smoking etc etc. have done reflash,EGR and reprogramming them, all to no avail. I'll report back when injectors are returned on Thursday, as I can fit them and programme them myself. Fingers crossed
