It could be a number of things. Do a search on here for 'glow plug' or 'limp mode' and you will find lots has already been written about the possible causes and solutions.

Also it is worth getting the fault codes read as this can help to point you in the right direction.

Codes often reset when you turn the ignition off so you need live data.

    Some of your options are:

GEt an elm code reader if you have an android phone.

Do a service and change fuel filter <Delphi ) air filter and spray your MAF sensor with Halfords contact cleaner.

Fill up with Shell V Power and a dose of Forte Turbo cleaner.

Then give it a blast down the motorway.

2.2 have the electronic EGR and are prone to turbo actuator problems as well so do the easy stuff first it might sort it out!

    Hi,

Not sure if this helps but my daughter had a fiat bravo 1.9jtd that had the same issues down on power and eventually the glow plug light flashing, I done some research on this for her and learned that this was being caused by the turbo waste gate and the turbo itself. I never did repair it owing to the turbo costing more than the car was worth but at least I learned something new.

It's most likely the EGR at fault but do heed the advice above as 150 could be easilly wasted if it turns out to be something else.

I had the same symptoms (glow light/limp mode) with mine and it turned out to be a sticking turbo actuator arm, which once diagnosed and identified was fixed for a few quid. So it doesn't necessarily mean an expensive repair, fingers crossed yours is the same.

If you do a search you should find that there is a brand new app for the i-Phone that can use the ELM327.
