Jaguar s type - idle problem - racing & stalling (FIXED)
my 2000 3.0L Jag s type has developed a problem over the last week...
it runs fine when cold but when hot (30 min journey) it races to between 1500-3000 rpm when slowing down at junctions but drops to tick over when at a stand still but after 2 or 3 mins it will stall ...
it accelerates fine and pulls as it should.
i cannot see any (or hear) air leaks in the inlet pipes - any ideas? air flow meter ? split engine breather pipe at the back of the engine, under the manifold?

Classic air leak symptoms.
Read on here to save yourself money as fairly easy DIY fix.
So the rubber elbow is for the vacuum? (rear on inlet manifold next to bulkhead) - it seems to idle correctly if it pull the pipe off and hold my finger over the pipe...
can i replace the elbow without removing the inlet manifold..?
inlet manifold off...
