Rumours swirl over future of Browns Lane

Browns LaneWe hear that Ford is pondering the sale of the historic Browns Lane plant -- once the home of Jaguar since 1928. "The possible sale of Browns Lane is one of several options that is currently being studied," said a spokesman, confirming a report in the Wall Street Journal.

He would not confirm the newspaper's report that Ford intended to cut Jaguar production by six to seven per cent in 2006 following slack demand.

I think the rumours are true and there is probably a press embargo on the story.

There must be something to all of this. Too many snide comments in the press and by motoring journalists for it to be unfounded rumour.

Maybe I'm a cynic but there are good times to announce bad news and those in the know are waiting their cue. After the Xmas hols maybe? Who knows.

Hate to be selfish but my concern is with residuals

I should imagine Ford can't wait to offload the loss making Jaguar division, and there normally isn't smoke without fire so I reckon something will be announced in the New Year.
