    Sony Audio Problem

I think one of our Sony Audio's gone crazy to insane .
This is what his nibs doing :

It continually switches on / off on its own which is very unusual
The cd changer tray comes out and in w/ any reason
When you put a cassette in one of the decks cd changer tray comes out and retracts

    You think that's all ?
You press the tuner button but yet again it moves to cd function
When you press one of cd changer buttons (1,2,3) #1 button is useless, #2 switches off the audi, #3 is useless

You could insert a cd on it but such a message pooped off "no cd " and hence standby prior to this problem

I think time to buy a new audio ,I would like to buy Kenwood but they seem they no longer make such decks like they used to

Sounds to me like it has more than one issue Cadillac - some of the strange behaviour could be down to a leaky electrolytic somewhere in the power supply stage - although there could also be problems with the CD player mechanism/laser also.

It might be worth having it looked at, depending on what it is, and how old it is?

As for Kenwood, you are right in thinking that they no longer make home audio (which, having seen the other side of some of their stuff when it was in production, is no bad thing!) - they now stick to mobile audio and ham radio.

Don't write Sony off, as they are still one of the biggest and best brands currently available in the high street. Depending on the features you are looking for, also consider Panasonic, Denon and TEAC - and if you can, get yourself some separates.

PM me if I can be any help

I remember them well (in fact I sold rafts of the things when I worked for a Sony Centre years back). Its probably still worth repair as long as its not something major - unless of course, you feel like treating yourself to a new one......

Not sure (probably due to alcohol) exactly what you have, but if you had to replace it what would you be looking for?

I deal with Sony, Panasonic, Denon, Jamo systems daily so if I can be of help let me know.
I suspect though that due to you still using cassettes it might be a bit tricky. However, there is a product or two on the market which you can connect to a pc that will convert all cassette/vinyl music to MP3 via a PC, by a product called Ion.
£99 ish for both a double Cassette deck or turntable. Records in real time so a 90 minute tape will take 90 minutes to convert. Then you can burn to CD to save all your tape/vinyl recordings.

    Check here:

Thanks guys , I actually no longer need cassette decks aside from recording some musics from the radio stations
Nonetheless, a new home audio should have at least one for cassette .
The model name Fx99 for the audio that broken down .

I inserted a cd into the tray and it played but we had some "hard time" to get back the cd again lol

Sounds to me like you need the Ion kit.

Searched sony.com for fx99, no results so must be old and they've withdrawn support.

Another good product could be the Philips Streamium. Record everything you have to an 80Gb hard drive and place the satellite unit in another room, they talk to each other wirelessly
