    XF - DPF problems with 2.7 D...

    Hi guys...

I'm new to this forum. so please bear with me if my netiquette may not always be spot on ?

Anyway - Although I've read some great stuff about all you guys' new XFs, I'm afraid I wish I had the same confidence in this product.

Speaking as a previous S type owner, I wish I still had it now.

About 7 weeks ago, I took delivery of one of the first (gorgeous looking) diesel XFs up here in Newcastle. No problems to start with - the love afair had began ! (wife complaining I was always in my garage !!!).

Some three weeks later after my first big run in the XF (london and back), I had a DPF FULL refer to handboook message appear on the message centre. Reading the blurb, I followed the instructions to the dot; took it out on three half to 1 hour runs, observing a driving speed of 50 MPH. After which the damn messgae remained. Phoned the dealership who asked me to bring it in. After an hour or so on the computer, they decided they needed to keep the car, contact the factory and in the meantime would provided me with a 'JAguar Assist' undriveable manual X type (felt like it had clutch problems !!!).

So I drove off in that (fortunately at the time my old S type was still at home (before I sold it, so u can guess what I ended up driving !!!).

To cut a long story short, It was Tuesday afternoon of the next week when I got the XF back (and only after complaining to Jaguar Customer services - who I am about to call again, after this message); and the XF I discovered when I got it home had a scratch on the front wing - gutter !

3 weeks after a supposed firmware problem that was updated and 1/3 of a tank of diesel lighter (which the garage appologised about), the car is giving the same DPF FULL message again.

I took it on two 1 hour drives in the past few days, this morning I am also getting DSC fail- restriced performance and the DPF Full message - so I am back to squre one !!!!

I am sam herwe waiting for Stratstones to pick the car up and deliver probably another mondao (oops) - X type and don't know where to go from here.

To add insult to injury, I'm paying £ 700+ per month for the priviledge of this experience - ARGHHH !!!!!

Hi ian, welcome to the forum. Sounds like a software issue to me. There are a number of software issues arising on the XF (which isnt a suprise with such a new product) and you may need the software updating. Quite often when the DSC fail warning comes on and it goes into restricted performance it isnt the traction system that is at fault at all but it automatically switches off when it goes into restricted performance mode.

What is inexcusable to me is that way that you have been treated by the dealer. Contact Jaguar direct on their customer relations number and escalate it.

Im sure i dont need to tell you but when it works (and everyone has had some teething problem but thats inevitable as an early adopter) it works great.

Hmm... that is giving me a horrible sinking feeling. I have had nothing like this yet with my XF, but I have had a nightmare with a similar problem on my wife's Renault Scenic. Thankfully the dealer was much more supportive - the filter was replaced at Renault's expense, even though the car was (just) out of warranty. I hope I don't have to test out Hadley Green in this regard!

I would be really pissed off about the scratch. What did they do about that?
    Oh, what's diesel?

Everyone is entitled to an opinion. It just so happens that mine is the right one.

    my poor xf...

Still sat here 2 hours later waiting for the pick up !

I have however telephoned Jaguar customer complaints (or whatever they're called) - and spoke to a nice lady called Helen who is now on the case. She noted however, that although I contacted them last time - the guy I talked to NEVER entered the case on their computer - SHOCKING !!!

So, me harties, watch this space - specially if you bought a diesel !

and to GAZ2785 - thanks for your comment, however I never mentioned the scratch as it was only 2mm long, but a wee bit deep - I was just so pleased to get it back at the time !

However - I'm still waiting for them to retrieve the car from where I work (I put a big printed A4 message and put it on the passenger seat saying - please don't scratch it again !!!

Hopefully they get the message ?

    xf - dpf problem...

so tyhey take your car away and then they forget to book you a hire car !!!

i'm sat here in the office - it's friday night at 17:30, every 15 minutes since 15:00 ive ran to see where the car is, and they come up with an excuse that their driver is somewhere else, but they will have the car prepped and to me ASAP

Now they told me they can only deliver me a Landrover Discovery - no doubt plastic bumbpers and all !!!

Woe is me - it's my daughter's 16th birthday and she's wondering where I am with the drink, food, etc.

    Still NO car - arghh...

Write to Jaguar detailing your displeasure with the way you have been treated and address the letter to David Smith. In the letter give him 28 days to respond positively or you will contact autoexpress or autocar.
