Going on a XJ Drive Day

Postby JAGIT » Sat Jun 19, 2010 3:06 pm

I'm going on a Jaguar drive day this Thursday, courtesy of Rybrook Warrington, they are launching the new XJ in the grounds of a country hotel in Northwich. I’m booked in to drive the XJ and XK.
You can drive the cars unaccompanied on the predetermined route of about 10 miles, then just return the car and jump into another, and they wine and dine you – it’s a great day out.
Well done Rybrook they certainly look after their customers. :P

Saw a black one heading to Epsom races a couple of weeks ago when we were down south. The badge on the back said XJL. Assume it was a long wheelbase.

I did a tour of the factory last week to see them being built - there are lots of them there!

It was fascinating to see them being built from the ground up and is well worth a visit if you have time. I am still not sure about the shape yet though.

Finally seen one on the road (silver - M1 south of Sheffield)

Unfortunately seems a bad choice of colour - having marvelled at one stood in the show room actually seeing one being used on the road has disappointed me. From the back it looked too american - on passing it seemed to be as long as an oil tanker and in the rear view it looked like an obese XF.

Benefit of the doubt could just be the colour but I'm now looking at my 'old model' XJ with renewed fondness :D

I saw a black one the other day, I do not like black cars anyway and this one did nothing to change my opinion.
As to looking "American" I know what you mean, well that is the largest market for Jaguar but I'm sure Americans like Jags to be "British" and not look like something from Detroit. Time will tell as to how it sells here and overseas.

Had one, would never have another. Forever cleaning it.
Made £2850 profit though so it was a good one

Saw an XJL in Aberdeen yesterday... thought it looked stunning ... but like others I've had black cars before ...and they are rubbish for keeping clean ...

The XJ is an amazing bit of design really impressed looking forward to getting a drive of one. I think there is only one better looking car ... Maserati Granturismo ...

Ordered XJ in Botanical Green with Ivory/Oyster and Carbon Fibre Veneer.Dealer was fantastic [ Sturgess ] and can't wait for Oct/Nov when car should arrive ! This car sets the benchmark for Exec Saloons now IMO. Makes a Rapide look at tad expensive!

Going to px XKR as need 4 doors now! Sorry to see the XK go but still excited by getting the XJ. Different driving experience but less visits to the petrol station and loads more practicality in a very modern package.

Thanks for info on the White one. Wasn't brave enough went Botanical Green. Wanted a change from grey or black.
