Hi there i had a similar fault on my 93 xj40 but only realised that only one fan motor was working and then that died so no blowers checked motors and they both worked after further investigation found that in each blower casing there is a heat sink and water leaks directly onto them causing them to corode over time there is a resistor on each blower casing soldered in the circuit board which is silver in colour and round like a 20 pence piece with 2 screws securing it to the board these are what fail and a replacement costs pence but they require being soldered into the circuit board i replaced mine and i get excellent defrosting of the screen this is a very common fault as i would think at least half of jags this era only have one blower working as people do not realise there are 2 and water gets to them all so age and corrosion takes its toll
