Interesting. That seems too expensive to be just the bushes they replaced but too cheap to be the arms. What did they do exactly?

Are the upper front and rear bushes available as well? Getting a knock on hard left turns. Have replaced all shock bushes in the last 12 months, they seem to wear out very quickly!

It is a little confusing I agree, this a separate thread to talk about another thread because the original one is locked but the other thread is not directly referenced, unless you saw them both being posted at the same time you would not see the correlation. This the information this thread is discussing http://www.jaguarforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=34592.

God point - it isn't clear - I'm sure Robert can amend it. The thread in question is a sticky at the top of this forum section though.

Essentially it means instead of spending very large sums of money on a wishbone complete with bushes, (like over £350 a side and that is the "internet" price)), the bushes are now available separately, but NOT from Jaguar. As Jaguar, (for some unfathomable reason), charge megabucks for the complete wishbone, this is very good news. Remember this wishbone is common to S-type, X350, and some US Ford cars, so it is in mass production, not made in penny packets. If it lasted a very long time, one could maybe understand the price, but it doesn't. These things are a regular replacement item and should be priced accordingly.

Of course the downside (isn't there always one ?), is that there will be extra labour in pressing out old bushes and putting new ones in to weigh against the cost of just taking old wishbone off and bolting on the (expensive) new one.

I've been watching this topic on various threads and several forums for some time. My 04 X350 3.0 needs rear wishbone bushes.
A rather experienced member of this forum, "x-dave" suggested bushes are avilable from Jaguar for £10 each.
see http://www.jaguarforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=22893 this post is approx 1 year old

Jag don't list the bushes on their parts system for some reason (draw you own conclusions...) but they are available. Part no for the lower ones is C2C26852, and they are £10 each. I recently replaced both rear wishbone bushes (3 each side) on my XJ 3.0 as they were showing signs of wear
The discussion went on to explain that these bushes are likely only to fit older X350's upto say 04, chassis G36004 due to a wishbone change, I believe.

Can someone please help explain why the sticky thread says they cost several times more than this? I dont want to be negative or difficult, but I have an MOT warning, a nasty clunk from the rear over potholes and am not in a postion to spend circa £500 (or more) on replacing them...

Please help!
Many thanks
Chris

hbz - That part number is for the lower SHOCK ABSORBER bush, not the wishbone bushes, there has been a rumour that it fits the the wishbone too - not what most people have found out tho'! Jaguar do not sell a bush for the lower wishbone!

Why not try it for tenner? If it fits let us know please we'd all be happy to spend a tenner rather than £50+
BTW - if it doesn't fit the wishbone, keep it anyway, the shock bushes are also a favourite wear item.

Hi all

I would just like to add a comment to the wisbone saga
1. there is one bush in the wishbone (inner front) which is diferent from the the other two ie inner rear and outer to hub
2. This bush is all rubber as apposed to a spherical type for the other two.
3. I have not seen anyone mention this bush or where it can be sourced, this one failed on my first wishbone failure near side.
4. My second failure was the inner rear offside bush so I am keeping this wisbone as asource of two replacements as I bought a new one for £220.

here's an update on my success!

MOT "warning": both rear shock lower bushes plus one lower rear wishbone bush need replacing:
Dealer quote: nealry £1200 for two wishbones and fitting

Actual: 2 * £10 shock bushes + 2 * £50 racing green custom bushes + 5hrs at £30+vat (local porsche specialist) = £170ish

all in for <£300

Marvellous. Very happy!
