Apparently Minster Jaguar decided that the Leeds, York, Wakefield and Harrogate outlets were too many sites, and decided to shut Harrogate which allegedly was actually the only branch operating at a profit. This is what I was told by an employee the day after they had all been summonsed in and told they were out of a job ... so I was told.
Their customer care skills have always been excellent, and I have generally found them to be very good on the servicing side, except rather ironically this last time when they quoted me for over £1000 of unnecessary work (bent and loose lower front suspension arms and new front tyres) - I was a bit suspicious when they mentioned the tyres, which are fairly new ... when taken elsewhere, it turned out that the front drivers' side wheel just needed rebalancing and the tracking resetting - due to hitting a rather large crater in a side road in Leeds. Quite an expensive mis-diagnosis, but I'll be charitable and put their error down to the stress of having just being told they were out of work.
I am very sorry that all the genuinely nice and helpful people at the Harrogate dealership are out of work. Minster have lost my business, as I'm not going to treck across to York to have the car serviced during the week when I work in Harrogate, its just not practical, and the York dealership is in the middle of nowhere on the outer ringroad - its not like you can even use public transport from there easily, and they aren't going to have enough courtesy cars to go round all the "new" customers from the Harrogate area and their existing client base.
I would welcome details of any independent Jaguar specialist in Yorkshire.
Having said all of that, twice I tried to buy a car from them, and they didn't want to sell me one, as I didn't fit their sales team's "demographic". Another dealership got my cash instead ...
