Switch getting hot

Postby jensen interceptor » Tue Jul 20, 2010 12:07 pm

Hi all
Just jumped ship from the x type.
I finally gave in and she now has a premium luxury.
Looking on the forum fuel economy seems to be an issue not sure after only three tanks.
But the one thing we have both noticed is the park switch gets really hot to the point that applying it is uncofmteble.
We had a short brake in the lakes and I ended up driving all the time (aren’t they kind)
A few times the mirrors did not open just did it on the button and the gear selector did not retract.
Not the end of the world just wounded if any one else has had the same problems.
As the dealer will no doubt tell me they have not experienced it before.

Thanks

I assume you mean the brake switch. If so yes I have noticed that it can get hot.
I have put it down to the sun shine.....

Would be intrested to hear of others.

Mine doesn't get hot. Not even warm, really.

If it really is getting too hot to comfortably touch, I think a dealer visit is in order.

Hi Lesw

I mean the hand brake switch on the centre consol.
It’s not the sun shine we seen precious little of that.
They don’t call it the lakes for nothing
But at least it did not leak it like the classic did :P

Hi Wilf

When I say it gets hot I mean like holding a mug of tea.

What about electrical gremlins with the folding mirrors and the gear selector not retracing any one.

If the switch really is too hot to handle then get to the dealer as it is a known problem and there is a fix for this. Mate of mine has had his done......but thought that actually this was a problem on the 2.7Ds rather than the later 3.0D.

Hi CARZ and CAB

The car is going back to the dealer I spoke to the sales lad.

I also mentioned the mirrors do not always opening and the gear selector has not gone down on occasion.

But there is the problem it's the wife’s car and as you all know you can never get hold of them but they can get hold of you (on the mobile)
